Position modes: reduce or close the intended position

Check direction, mode and position size before sending an exit order.

1

Identify the position mode

TRAIEX supports One-Way and Hedge. One-Way treats exposure in a contract as one net direction. Hedge supports separate long and short directions. A buy or sell instruction can have a different effect depending on the mode, so first inspect the existing position and the action selected.

2

Choose the intended exit

Use the position’s close or reduce control when offered. Review the exact position, side and quantity. If using Reduce-Only, check its status and size after submission; this option is intended to avoid increasing exposure, not to guarantee execution.

3

Check what remains

Confirm completed fills and the remaining position size. Review related take-profit, stop-loss and other open orders so they match the remaining exposure. If the requested closure did not fully execute, resolve the remainder before sending a full-size replacement.

Before you continue

Opening an opposite position is not necessarily the same as closing the original one. Opposite positions can still incur fees, funding and margin requirements.

What to send support

Contract, position mode, long/short position ID, requested exit quantity, order ID, fills and remaining position size.
